About the work of Caroline Koender(1961), graphic artist. A whole world is hidden behind the abstract immages in the work of Caroline Koenders. Her prints may seem just a collection of black dots or cirkels, but in all purety those forms create a silent world one wants to live in. An artist looking for eternity and finding it nearby. Behind the black hides the white, behind darkness the light. The mezzotint is a graphic technique that works opposite: one starts from black. The image dooms up from the dark copperplate after endlessly scratching and scraping it. This way the artist creates a beautifull velvet print. The halftones made by Caroline Koenders create the athmosphere of a mysterious world.
